Stop Ridiculous Exporters Tax
New Zealand First is calling on the Government to drop plans to impose user charges on exporters, importers and transport operators.
“It is ridiculous to charge the business community for the new security demands by the United States. The Government should meet the expenses from its budget surplus,” said Rt Hon Winston Peters.
“Exporters in New Zealand are already suffering with the high dollar so it is completely unreasonable and absurd to then make them pay an extra tax.
“It seems this Labour Government is intent on destroying businesses and running New Zealand’s economy into the ground. Whilst money is made available for various schemes of social engineering our export sector is faced with new charges and increasing compliance costs.
“Customs Minister Rick Barker, a former trade unionist without a clue about exporting businesses, must find an alternative way of paying for the new security measures,” said Mr Peters.
