Whenuapai Discussion Document
New Zealand First MP Dail Jones has described the Whenuapai Document as a good beginning for the development of the
area.
Mr Jones was a candidate for the Helensville electorate at the last election and MP for the area from 1975 to 1984.
“I made the point at the meeting at Whenuapai on 12 March that the development along the lines of the Albany Centre
should feature in the future of Whenuapai.
“While four broad options have been identified, I am especially pleased that reference has been made to the comparison
with the Albany development with which I was involved in its early conception.
“ As indicated in the discussion document, the Albany Centre was conceived in the 1980’s. The mid-1990s saw the road and
services infrastructure complete. Nearly 15 years on, the Albany Centre is still being developed and has some years to
go to completion.
“The major stumbling block in the Norwest area will be the lack of sewerage systems, which will have to be dramatically
increased to cope with the development of Whenuapai Riverhead and Kumeu.
“There is a clear demand for housing sites in the Auckland area and there will also be a corresponding demand for work
opportunities. The planned development of Whenuapai will be the key to the quality of life in the whole of the Auckland
region,” said Dail Jones.
