Hodgson the fall guy on flatulence tax
National's Agriculture spokesman David Carter says Climate Change Minister, Pete Hodgson, is the fall guy in the Government's backdown on the flatulence tax.
Mr Carter says a report from the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet shows Helen Clark's department was responsible for the Climate Change Project up until 31 January this year, before transferring it to the Ministry for the Environment.
The flatulence tax plan was announced last year.
"The Prime Minister had her fingers all over this grubby little tax. She helped create it and drive it, but dived for cover when the pressure came on.
"This left the hapless Pete Hodgson to face political opposition and farmer anger in trying to defend the indefensible," says Mr Carter.
