District Court Judge appointed
Attorney-General Margaret Wilson today announced the appointment of Nevin Dawson as a District Court Judge. He will sit
in Palmerston North from late November.
The 52-year-old obtained a Bachelor of Laws from Victoria University in 1975 and was admitted to the bar the following
year. He has been with the Napier firm of Langley Twigg since admission, practising predominantly in the
commercial/conveyancing areas. He has been a partner of the firm since 1981.
Nevin Dawson is a Notary Public, and has sat occasionally in the role of Police Tribunal.
Active in a wide variety of community organisations, he has often taken on leadership roles, for example in Jaycees and
Rotary. He has won two awards for his contributions to the Jaycees movement.
Nevin Dawson has also made a considerable contribution to the Law Society. A former President of the Hawke’s Bay
District Law Society, he is the current Vice President of the New Zealand Law Society.
