Barry Gustafson To Address ACT Conference
Friday 3 Oct 2003 Catherine Judd Press Releases -- Other
ACT New Zealand President Catherine Judd today expressed her delight that political commentator and National Party
historian Professor Barry Gustafson will address the ACT Auckland/Northern Regional Conference at Auckland's Alexandra
Park Raceway on Saturday October 18.
"Professor Gustafson has written several books on New Zealand politics, including: `The First Fifty Years: A History of
the National Party; and `His Way: A Biography of Robert Muldoon'. He was politically active with the Labour Party
between 1954-1981, and with the National Party from 1986-1996," Ms Judd said.
"ACT has recently been discussing how we might work more closely with National and other parties - or individuals -
that share similar values to provide an alternative to the current Labour Government.
"I look forward to hearing Professor Gustafson share his thoughts on the viability of a centre-right coalition.
"Similarly, ACT co-founder Sir Roger Douglas will outline a plan for the centre-right to win the next general election.
"A conference highlight will be a celebrity debate. A witty line-up of top speakers and personalities will debate the
moot statement that `the Government cares'.
"ACT Leader Richard Prebble and Finance Spokesman Rodney Hide will also address the conference," Ms Judd said.
