High Court Judge appointed
Attorney-General Margaret Wilson today announced the appointment of Judge Patrick John Keane as a Judge of the High Court.
Justice Keane graduated from Wellington’s Victoria University in 1970. He has been a principal of two Wellington law firms, Izard Weston, and Rudd, Watts and Stone. He has been also a Crown Counsel. His main interests in practice were public law and commercial law.
Justice Keane was appointed to the District Court bench and the Taxation Review Authority in 1987. He has held a Family Court warrant, and more recently a jury trial warrant. He has had a particular interest in legal and judicial education.
Justice Keane began a three-year term as a Law Commissioner in May 2001.
The new judge will sit in Auckland.
