Go Judy T! - Pedal Power
ACT New Zealand Finance Spokesman Rodney Hide today said that he was pleased the Minister charged with carrying the Prime Minister's handbag had finally achieved something as a Minister other than to knit a scarf.
"It's true that Judith Tizard has done nothing for Auckland's gridlock - or for ratepayers - but she has today proudly announced that she has in her own words achieved `a speedy resolution' to the problem of government regulations that effectively outlawed the sale and gifting of second-hand bikes," Mr Hide said.
"The Minister tells us she has consulted widely, had her officials working hard, and that she has produced the Product Safety Standards (Pedal Bicycles) Amendment Regulations 2003 that will come into effect on Friday.
"It's simply not true, as some have claimed, that Ms Tizard is completely useless - she has at some considerable expense saved the second-hand bike market from government ineptitude," Mr Hide said.
