The Aussies: I Say “Let Them Sing”
“Whilst we all cheer whenever the All Blacks beat the Wallabies, there is time when we should stand up for our friends across the ditch,” New Zealand First Deputy Leader, Peter Brown said today.
“Whilst we admit that we were-are, thoroughly brassed off about the Aussies getting to exclusively host the World Cup, we do not believe in kicking them when they are down, or about to be so. Whilst we know the All Blacks are going to put the Wallabies to shame in the forthcoming World Cup we believe in giving even the Aussies a fair go.
“I say let them sing their ‘Waltzing Matilda’ at the World Cup. It is a song which represents the Aussies just like the Kangaroos do. It is part of Aussie culture, nobody can deny that, so let them sing it – and sing it to their heart’s content. I think most Kiwis will agree with that.
“After all, it is the only joy they will get out of this World Cup after we have finished with them,” Mr Brown concluded!
