Cullen to APEC, Singapore
Finance Minister Michael Cullen will attend the APEC Finance Ministers meeting in Phuket on Thursday and Friday of next week.
Dr Cullen will visit Singapore on Wednesday en route to Thailand where he will meet Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Lee Hsien Long and will promote New Zealand to financial market analysts, members of the Singapore/New Zealand Business Council and other potential investors.
Topics on the formal APEC agenda include global and regional macroeconomic and financial developments and financial cooperation within APEC on developing small and medium enterprises; a regional bond market and regional trade.
Dr Cullen also has bilateral meetings confirmed with the Korean Deputy Minister of Finance and the Economy, Tae-shin Kwon, Assistant Secretary to the US Treasury for International Affairs, Randal Quarles, the Mexican Minister of Finance and Public Credit, Francisco Gil Diaz, the Chilean Finance Minister, Nicolas Eyzaguirre, the First Vice Minister of Finance for China, Lou Jiwei and the President of the Asia Development Bank, Tadao Chino.
