Labour Makes Cuckold Of United Future
ACT New Zealand Health Spokesman Heather Roy today accused the Labour Government of adultery - using the recommendations of the report on the Cannabis Inquiry to flirt with the Greens, while keeping the cuckold United Future on side.
"The report itself is sound, as far as it goes - which isn't far. The recommendations are vague and unrealistic - and, if enacted, they would be of little value, but costly to implement," Mrs Roy said.
"An example is the recommendation `that the ESR test all people killed in road accidents for traces of all illegal drugs and alcohol, including cannabinoids'. Such a measure would involve a large and expensive screening process - and the actual purpose of this recommendation has not even been outlined.
"ACT supports the recommendation to support the prescription of clinically-tested cannabis products for medicinal purposes. However, many of these recommendations are little more than politically correct rhetoric. They allow Labour to avoid the real problem - that of the most appropriate legal status of cannabis. While this issue was included in the inquiry's terms of reference, it is yet to be addressed.
"The Government is just trying to keep everyone happy. While trying to keep United Future on side, Labour is flirting with the Greens - and failing on both fronts. As with all adulterers, Labour will be caught out sooner or later, and it will all end in tears," Mrs Roy said.
