Eliminating nuclear weapons on Hiroshima Day
Progressive deputy leader Matt Robson will be wearing a white poppy on Wednesday (6 August) to mark Hiroshima Day and hopes MPs from across the political spectrum will join him.
“It is the 58th anniversary of the devastation of Hiroshima by the ‘Little Boy’ atomic bomb. I will remember the tragedy caused in 1945 and for years afterwards.
“But also I will look to a day in the near future when we will eliminate nuclear weapons from the world,” said Matt Robson.
New Zealand is a member of the New Agenda group of nations striving for the elimination of nuclear weapons. Other New Agenda nations are Mexico, Brazil, South Africa, Ireland, Sweden and Egypt.
