Restore Law And Order In New Zealand First
New Zealand First has suggested that the Government deploy 35 extra police officers to deal to the warring gangs in the
Bay of Plenty and Palmerston North before it attempts to help restore law and order in the Solomon Islands.
Law and order spokesperson Ron Mark said today that New Zealand can ill afford the loss of 35 frontline police because
their resources are already stretched to breaking point.
“Despite continual pleas from the Police for additional resources this Government has continued to show utter disregard
for the rampant lawlessness increasingly confronting New Zealanders”, said Mr Mark.
“Police Minister George Hawkins has approved the deployment of 35 of New Zealand’s most experienced frontline Police and
expects the public to be satisfied with a ‘backfill’ of rookies fresh out of Police school.”
“It is time for the Minister to admit that while he is willing to meet New Zealand’s international commitment to the
Solomons, he is displaying a continual unwillingness to make a commitment to his own people”, concluded Mr Mark.
