Prostitution Bill : New Zealand First Firmly Against
All New Zealand First MPs will be voting against the Prostitution Reform Bill in the third reading debate.
“For MPs who are wavering, they should be aware that wherever in the world prostitution laws have been liberalized, the
associated problems have become worse. If this Bill passes we can expect:
The industry to expand;
More drug abuse;
More child prostitution;
More sexual activity, leading to an increase in sexually transmitted diseases;
More trafficking of women;
More violence against prostitutes;
More blatant advertising both for services provided and the recruitment of prostitutes;
More criminal activity; and finally
More degrading acts for less fees.
“Some sections of our society are much more likely to be adversely affected by this liberalisation, Peter Brown said.
“The passing of this Bill will have brothel operators and “pimps” rubbing their hands with glee at the thought of the
huge amount of money they will make selling the bodies of young women in particular.
“Having fought this Bill since its sponsor first tabled it in Parliament some three years ago, it has been heartening to
see support for it dissipate. Tomorrow’s vote will depend on the weight MPs give to the values of our society over the
lobbying of liberal propagandists. I am confident good sense will prevail,” Mr Brown concluded.
