Forces join to fight SARS in Chinese community
The Chinese community is to benefit from a new double-pronged SARS information campaign.
The Waitemata District Health Board Asian Health Support Service is to join forces with the New Zealand Chinese SARS
Foundation to target Chinese communities in the battle against the disease.
"The Waitemata District Health Board is a forerunner of the provision of health services for Asian communities,"
according to National Party Ethnic Affairs spokesperson Pansy Wong, who is also the patron of the Foundation.
"The Board's involvement is a credit to CEO Dr Dwayne Crombie and Sue Lim from the Asian Health Service, their
partnership will strengthen our foundation's capability and credibility.
The Waitemata DHB Asian Health Chinese language line, icare, will be publicised through the Foundation's information
campaign.
To obtain accurate and up-to-date information call 09-442-3232 between 9am and 4.30pm. In addition, information can be
accessed through the Chinese language website www.kNOwsSARS.org.nz from Tuesday.
Joint public meetings will also be held to disseminate SARS information.
