Greens will strengthen human cloning Bill
The Green Party will work to strengthen the long-overdue Bill banning human cloning and regulating other reproductive
technologies, Sue Kedgley MP said today.
The Government today released its proposed changes to the Human Assisted Reproductive Technology Bill to the Health
Select Committee.
Ms Kedgley said she welcomed the Bill finally returning to Parliament after lying dormant since 1996, and said the Green
Party strongly supported regulation in this area.
"However, the regulatory regime proposed does not go nearly far enough. We need a tight licensing and regulatory regime
based on the one that exists in the United Kingdom.
"New Zealand has the most unregulated regime in the world at present," Ms Kedgley said.
