Deadline for Green Ribbon nominations looms
There’s less than a month for people to get their Green Ribbon Award entries into the Ministry for the Environment.
The awards, given by Environment Minister Marian Hobbs, celebrate people leading the way in environmental action.
"The Green Ribbon Award winners show all of us how individuals and small organisations can make a big difference through their commitment and hard work," Marian Hobbs said.
“I encourage everyone who’s taken a leading role in the environment to look at the web site – http://www.mfe.govt.nz/withyou/awards/green-ribbon.html and put in a nomination.”
Award entries close on April 30 and will be made for: caring for the urban environment caring for the rural environment caring for our biodiversity raising awareness of environmental issues business caring for our environment kids who care – youth award state of the environment reporting caring for our lakes, rivers and streams, a special award marking the International Year of Freshwater
Winners will be announced on World Environment Day, June 5. In the past 12 years, 47 individuals, businesses, voluntary organisations, schools and councils from all over New Zealand have been honoured with Green Ribbon Awards.
