New Zealand First Calling For Submissions To The Resource Management Amendment Bill
New Zealand First local government spokesperson Jim Peters is extremely disappointed that the Minister for the
Environment, Marion Hobbs, does not want public submissions on her Resource Management Amendment Bill.
“The Resource Management Act is a decade old and has been the subject of both National and Labour review,” said Mr
Peters.
“The amendment bill first went to the House in 1999, then was drastically changed by the Labour-Alliance Government in
2001, and has languished since then.
“New Zealand First intends to write to all councils, major interested bodies and stake-holders and invite oral or
written submissions on the amendment bill.
“Ratepayers and citizens need the opportunity to express their opinions about resource management.
”This is their chance to be heard and for their submissions to be considered by Parliament,” said Mr Peters.
