Kiwibank Turns One

Kiwibank turns 1
"Kiwibank is proving to be a great success," Jim Anderton said.
He will be attending the Kiwibank first birthday celebrations of the Featherston branch.
"In Featherston, the loss of banking services threatened the viability of the entire town.
"Strong, thriving centres get stronger all the time, and we need to have towns where we have more jobs and services attracting new businesses and thriving new industry ? which in turn create still more jobs and services.
"Jobs are critical for a person's dignity.
"The more jobs we create ? the safer our communities become from crime, the less demand we have on social services like health, and the fewer families live on benefits.
"I am pleased to see that there around 300 branches and 500 customers are signing up every working day.
"New Zealanders now have real banking choices, and are benefiting from lower banking fees through competition, while profits to stay in New Zealand," said Jim Anderton.
