Jim Throws Even More Money at Business
Tuesday 11 Mar 2003 Rodney Hide Press Releases -- Taxation
ACT Finance Spokesman Rodney Hide today attacked the Government's $1.5 million grant to multi-billion dollar company EDS.
"EDS is a huge multinational - it signed contracts worth almost $25 billion last year, and that is in US dollars.
"You can't blame the company for putting its hand out, given that Jim Anderton is throwing money at business. But it is a disgrace that the Government taxes hard-working New Zealanders so hard, to benefit a multinational company. New Zealanders pay taxes in hope of getting proper police protection, a decent education system for their children, and a health system that delivers. Instead Jim Anderton throws that money away to hand-picked businesses.
"The best way to help business in NZ is to help every business, by cutting taxes and getting rid of the silly red tape that Helen Clark and Jim Anderton have piled on top of every business in the country," Mr Hide said.
