Nelson Family Housed
The Nelson family unable to find accommodation have been successful housed, Acting Housing Minister Steve Maharey said today.
“When I was made aware of their case yesterday I immediately asked my officials to investigate the case. Since then officials from Work and Income as well as Housing New Zealand have responded quickly to the family’s changed circumstances and have now a solution to their plight.
“As a result of that work I understand that the family signed a tenancy agreement with Housing New Zealand today and tomorrow they will move into a sunny four bedroom house in Stoke. My officials tell me the family is ‘happy and housed’.
“I have also asked Housing New Zealand to set up a meeting with Tasman MP Nick Smith to review this case and discuss his concerns.
“I am very pleased that the matter is now resolved and the family is happy with the outcome.”
