English Makes Portfolio Changes

Published: Wed 12 Feb 2003 05:35 PM
National Party leader Bill English has made two portfolio changes within his caucus.
>From today Rangitikei MP Simon Power will take over Defence while Epsom MP Richard Worth will take over Justice .
Mr English says the switch reflected the MPs respective skills with key defence sites such as the expanding Ohakea air base and Waiouru being located within Simon Power's electorate and Linton Army Camp nearby.
"Richard Worth is a former Chairman of the law firm Simpson Grierson. He is also a member of the Council of Legal Education and has wide experience and knowledge in the justice area.
"I would like to acknowledge the excellent work both these people did in their previous portfolios and I look forward to their contribution, says Mr English.
