Mp Entitled To Common Justice
New Zealand First says Donna Awatere-Huata should be treated the same as any other citizen over allegations of misuse of public money.
Speaking after the New Zealand First caucus today, Rt Hon Winston Peters said that until the Auditor-General’s investigation and the police inquiry are completed, judgement should be suspended on the ACT MP.
“She is entitled to a fair hearing and is innocent until proven guilty. As a lawyer, Richard Prebble should be aware that is the foundation of our justice system.”
Mr Peters described a claim by Richard Prebble that he, Mr Peters, acted for Ms Awatere-Huata over the case as “quite bizarre”.
