Fishing Predators Should Be Deported
New Zealand First’s Conservation Spokesperson, Mr Edwin Perry, has called for the deportation of foreigners plundering our fisheries.
Mr Perry has noted the upsurge in groups using piano wires to strip off shellfish and is disconcerted at the increasing number of cases involving the illegal fishing of paua.
“There appears to be a lot of people ignoring New Zealand customs and laws and profiting at the expense of our way of life”.
“Their assets should be forfeited, and they should be sent back to where they came from.
“Any ill-gotten gains could be used to support fisheries research,” said Mr Perry.
