100,000 Customers - But How Much Money?
ACT Finance Spokesman Rodney Hide said today that Kiwibank advocates Jim Anderton and Jim Bolger should release what the average customer is depositing with Kiwibank.
"The Jims are crowing today that Kiwibank has signed up its 100,000th customer.
"It is the size of the deposits that determines profitability, not the number of customers. The business case put to the Government for $80 million of taxpayer's money was that Kiwibank customers would bank, on average, $6,000 each. The only figures that have been released by Kiwibank, from September last year, show the average deposit was only $2,500.
"I guess New Zealanders don't completely trust two politicians - Jim Anderton and Jim Bolger - with all their money," Mr Hide said.
