Bill Borrows From NZ First
Rt Hon Winston Peters has described the speech by Bill English today as a “desperate attempt” to halt National’s slide into political oblivion.
Mr Peters said that Mr English appeared to have spent his holidays studying New Zealand First’s policies to try to learn how to handle the pressing issues facing the country.
“New Zealand has suffered a lot from politicians learning on the job and Mr English’s latest attempt to win back voters will be seen for what it is – just that, and will lead to a further exodus of supporters to New Zealand First.
“There is only one party with a credible policy about the constitutional crisis facing New Zealand and that is New Zealand First.
“Six of our 13 MPs are Maori and they stood in general seats. There is no need for political apartheid in this country and Mr English should have the courage to come out and say he now acknowledges that our policies are right.”
Mr Peters reminded Mr English that New Zealand First opposes all forms of separatism and consistenly campaigns on fixing the Treaty grievance industry. During the last election campaign New Zealand First said:
”While we are many peoples with different customs, languages, religions and cultures, we are all New Zealanders first. During the next parliamentary term New Zealand First will focus on pusuing policies that promote social cohesion and economic advancement. We will put an end to the Treaty of Waitangi industry and cease its senseless calls to insert undefined, unspecifiedTreaty ‘principles’ into our legislation.”
