Tertiary Education Statistics
Associate Education (Tertiary Education) Minister Steve Maharey is disputing claims by National MP Simon Power that he is withholding tertiary education statistics.
Earlier this afternoon Steve Maharey released official Ministry of Education enrolment statistics for the year to July 2002. They show the number of students involved in tertiary education increased by 11.3% to 319,881. Tables attached to the media release charted the enrolment changes by institution and provider type. The tables have also been attached to this release.
The release records top-line results from the statistics. A full set of 31 July 2002 figures is being prepared for publication on the Ministry of Education’s website on Friday. The Ministry’s website is http://www.minedu.govt.nz.
