Redetermination of Maui gas reserves
Minister of Energy Pete Hodgson confirmed today that the Crown has received a preliminary determination of gas reserves from the independent expert carrying out the review of the Maui field.
The determination is work in progress and is subject to further submissions from the affected parties. The date for the final determination has not been set, but is expected to be early in the New Year.
The final determination will affect the Crown’s contractual obligations and rights to buy gas from the Maui field, all of which it on-sells to downstream gas users. The Minister will not make any further comment on this confidential process until the independent expert makes a final determination.
