The new television industry group to talk about local content continues the three-year Government talk-fest about
broadcasting, says National Broadcasting Spokesperson Katherine Rich.
"In three years this government has done nothing for broadcasting but talk, talk, talk.
"They can't legislate for mandatory quotas so any avowed threats of doing so is simply posturing. Imposition of
mandatory quotas would contravene our international trade agreements.
"If the government wants more local content, then it has to put its money where its mouth is. Talk is cheap, but it
takes money to buy airtime," says Mrs Rich.
