Swain Announces Transport Appointments
Minister for Transport Paul Swain announced a number of appointments to the boards of government transport agencies
today.
David Stubbs has been reappointed as Chair of Transfund New Zealand until 31 October 2003. Mr Stubbs, who is also on
Transit’s board, spent much of his career with the Auckland City Council, as Director of Works, Technical Services and
Planning and Development Services.
Janice Wright joins Mr Stubbs as Deputy Chair of Transfund until 31 October 2004. An independent policy analyst, Dr
Wright has worked on a number of environmental, health and social policy issues for various government agencies.
Mike Williams will remain on Transit New Zealand’s board for a second three-year term, to 30 November 2005. Mr Williams,
an information technology analyst, is also a director of the Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences Ltd.
Former MP John Wright will also join the Transit Board, for a three-year term to 30 November 2005.
Gretchen Kivell has been reappointed to the board of the Land Transport Safety Authority until 30 November 2004. Ms
Kivell is a former President of the Institute of Professional Engineers New Zealand.
Susie Staley, a partner with Dunedin-based Staley Cardoza Lawyers, has been reappointed to the board of the Maritime
Safety Authority, and appointed its Chair until 30 November 2004.
Dave Morgan, National President of the New Zealand Seafarers’ Union, and Pauline Barratt, a partner with Jones Fee
solicitors in Auckland, have been appointed to the MSA board.
Journalist and road safety campaigner, Ginny Wilson joins the Road Safety Trust for a three-year term to 30 November
2005.
