Portal launch means Government services a mouse-click away
Prime Minister Helen Clark and State Services Minister Trevor Mallard will tomorrow launch the one-stop-shop, ground-breaking government portal website, govt.nz.
The portal is a website that puts government information at people’s fingertips, just a mouse-click away, with over 3500 central and local government services and information sources accessible from the one website.
It can guide you to the things you need to know at different stages of your life, such as having a baby, renting a place to live or travelling or moving overseas.
Portal topics like “Education & training”, “Law, rights & responsibilities” and “Health & safety” will provide an overview of the range of services and information people find most useful. There’s also an A to Z of government services.
Helen Clark will launch the portal with a “virtual ribbon cutting” and Trevor Mallard will give a big-screen demonstration of what the portal can do. A senior citizens internet class “Surf’s Up for Seniors” has also been invited to try the portal out.
