Cullen's New Age Economics
ACT Finance Spokesman Rodney Hide said today that Finance Minister Michael Cullen's musings on economic policy at the Union-Government Forum proved that Michael Cullen is the least economically literate finance minister the country has had in decades.
"Michael Cullen sneers at sound policy such as low taxes, he fails to appreciate the overwhelming economic evidence of what is needed for an economy to be successful and applies his own New Age musings as a substitute to sound policy.
"Michael Cullen muses about the need for "connectedness" and a "social dialogue" but offers not one practical policy to improve the economic climate in which business operates in New Zealand.
"There is a complete policy vacuum in Michael Cullen's head. The country is finding that under Michael Cullen, policy inertia is gaining its own momentum," Mr Hide said.
