Others will cop it in OSH legislation
National says the Government should have known its new OSH legislation would put huge financial burdens on business and its own departments.
“Today’s revelation from the Commissioner of Police on the possible massive cost to the Police of the new OSH legislation regarding stress should come as no surprise,” says Mr Sowry.
“This is just the tip of the iceberg, the Government could be facing huge costs related to stress as a result of their legislation,” Mr Sowry says.
“The public education sector is extremely stressful, as is working in the deficit riddled public health sector.
“This Labour Government is creating a situation where the meagre funding for
our already struggling public health service will be further stretched to deal with
payments for stress in the workplace,” Mr Sowry says.
