Government Lost The Plot!
The Government has lost the plot completely over the simple things that used to make New Zealand a great place to live in, New Zealand First leader, Rt Hon Winston Peters said today.
“Melbourne Cup day has always been one of festivities and a chance to have ‘a flutter on the horses’ with office colleagues in the form of a sweepstake. This is a tradition.
“What is the Government thinking, in particular the Minister of Internal Affairs, George Hawkins, by trying to nobble Melbourne Cup day sweepstakes by limiting their value to the extent that it will also limit participants involvement.
“This petty reaction is indicative of a Government that is out of touch with mainstream New Zealand,” said Mr Peters.
“In the same vein, the actions of the killjoy Minister of Labour to introduce legislation that will allow volunteers to sue the organisations they volunteer for are just as ridiculous. What will New Zealand become if even the act of being a volunteer is in jeopardy?
“In a world that now lives in a constant state of alert due to terrorism, this Labour led Government seems intent to take away what little fun and decency of human spirit we have left,” said Mr Peters.
