Bring SAS back down under
National leader Bill English is calling on the Government to bring back our S.A.S troops now serving in Afghanistan.
“It’s now more clear than ever that terrorism’s come down under,” says Mr English.
“The Bali bombing and this week’s warnings in East Timor, where our troops are also serving, are proof that we can no longer be complacent about domestic security.
“We know our S.A.S troops are in Afghanistan - some have been injured - that makes a mockery of Helen Clark’s neither confirm nor deny policy.
“And at this stage, you’d think they’d be better employed closer to home where Kiwis now face very real risks,” says Mr English.
“The Labour Government’s been responsible for the running down of our defence force - it’s now crucial that the services we have left, are used in the most effective way.”
