Warehouse Handout Gets Worse
ACT Finance Spokesman Rodney Hide said today that Industry New Zealand's explanation for why The Warehouse received $75,000 of taxpayer cash raises more questions than it answers.
"Industry New Zealand senior business development advisor Richard White is now trying to tell New Zealand that Jim Anderton's ministry gave The Warehouse $75,000 of hard-earned taxpayer cash so that The Warehouse could pass it on to twelve other companies of The Warehouse's choice.
"Mr White is attempting to pretend that The Warehouse hasn't received any financial advantage from the handout.
"This is nuts.
"Mr White needs to explain why Industry New Zealand is using The Warehouse to channel the money to other businesses.
"Mr White maintains this taxpayer handout is a `good news story' in which `everyone benefits'. He needs to explain how taxpayers benefit by having one of New Zealand's most successful companies go on business welfare. While he's at it, he might care to explain how all the New Zealanders on public waiting lists to have their varicose veins operated on get any benefit," Mr Hide said.
