Latest Trent proposal looks promising
Green MP Mike Ward said today that the new proposal by Alan Trent looked promising.
"I understood from my recent meeting with Mr Trent and his wife that he intended to work with the community to revise
his plans and indications then were that he envisaged a mix of open space, horticulture, and housing," said Mr Ward.
"While I have yet to see the detail of those plans we may well have a model here that is a considerable improvement on
the predominant practice of dumping pockets of suburbia in the middle of the countryside."
Mr Ward said he was encouraged by Trent's enthusiasm for working with the community and that while the start may have
been a little shaky, the Resource Management Plan changes proposed by the TDC and the final development may mark a
turning point in the region's approach to rural residential subdivision.
Mr Ward said that in view of the kind of development that was possible, Mr Trent is to be commended for the latest
proposal.
