Green Party double standards
Hon David Carter - National Agriculture Spokesperson
Cannabis sativa seed imported into New Zealand for industrial hemp trials was not tested for the presence of genetic modification, says National’s Agriculture spokesman David Carter.
“Green Party MP Nandor Tanczos has championed industrial hemp as a bright new industry for New Zealand, but he is comfortable with second-rate seed importing rules for his pet project.
“How does he know this cannabis sativa seed has not been genetically modified?
“The answer is he doesn’t have a clue.
“The same double standard applies to labelling dietary supplements. The Greens are opposed to regulating their ingredients, even loopy ones with no proven health benefits. Yet they demand the strictest labelling for anything with a chance of containing GM.
“Are we to take it the Green Party concerns with genetic modification are now on a selective basis?” said Mr Carter.
