Obscene Films Have No Place In New Zealand
New Zealand First MP Peter Brown has encouraged the Film and Literature Board of Review to ban the controversial films
‘Baise Moi’, ‘Visitor Q’ and ‘Bully’.
“The Board of Review is conducting a hearing today and I encourage the board to take the steps that were taken in
Australia to ban these objectionable films.” Mr Brown said.
“Such movies encourage violence and sexual attacks in society. That has been well proven by recent events. The Office of
the Censor has failed in his duties to rule objectively in the considered films and I hope the Board of Review
recognises this.”
“The Society for the Promotion of Community Standards should be commended for their efforts in highlighting the linkage
between violence in the community and films depicting explicit sex and graphic violence,” concluded Mr Brown.
