Rail Investigations Underway
Minister of Transport Paul Swain has received an assurance for the Transport Accident and Investigation Commission (TAIC) and the Land Transport Safety Authority (LTSA) that an investigation into Saturday’s incident at Wellington Railway Station is underway.
“The investigation of this incident is being undertaken by TAlC.
“The LTSA is undertaking a broader review of safety issues surrounding train signalling. I have been advised that both TAIC and the LTSA have issued statements today.
“I have full confidence that independent agencies, established to protect public safety, will be investigating this incident thoroughly and recommending any appropriate action.”
