Research, Science And Technology Briefing Released
The Briefing for the Incoming Minister of Research, Science and Technology identifies four key “opportunity areas” for the portfolio as an agent of economic transformation.
They are:
- fostering a society confident in embracing innovation;
- motivating our RS talent
- leveraging value from government’s investment in RS and
- connecting New Zealand with global networks.
“The briefing identifies a number of specific actions to make progress on these opportunities,” said Minister of Research, Science and Technology Pete Hodgson. “It suggests a good agenda for strengthening New Zealand’s innovation system and confirms that I have the support of a resourceful and energetic ministry in this portfolio.”
Mr Hodgson said the directions mapped out in the briefing meshed with those in the government’s Growth and Innovation Framework.
“Strengthening science and innovation is a crucial part of the government’s plans for returning New Zealand to the front rank of developed nations. The intelligence of this briefing shows that the Ministry of Research, Science and Technology is well focused on this task.”
The briefing will be available on the ministry’s website: www.morst.govt.nz
