Foreign Affairs Appointment Unwise
The appointment of Marian Hobbs as an Associate Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade is unwise, says National's Foreign Affairs spokesperson Lockwood Smith.
"Marian Hobbs has been removed from her previous portfolios of Broadcasting and Biosecurity for not performing up to the expected standards. Foreign Affairs and Trade are extremely important to New Zealand's security and prosperity, and should not be seen as a consolation prize.
"Inflicting Marian Hobbs on our friends overseas, at a time when we need to rebuild our external relationships, is an unwise move," said Dr Smith.
