Whangarei MP calls for Ministerial Inquiry
Whangarei MP, Phil Heatley has asked the Ministers of Health and Social Services and Employment to investigate allegations of operational mismanagement and poor governance at Te Hau Ora O Te Tai Tokerau.
Te Hau Ora O Te Tai Tokerau is a Maori provider of family health services that holds a number of Government contracts funded by the Ministry of Social Services and Employment and the Ministry of Health.
"A number of allegations have been made about Te Hau Ora O Te Tai Tokerau's operations. These should be investigated by the Government as a matter of urgency," Mr Heatley said today.
Mr Heatley has also requested that a moratorium be placed on any future contracts being approved and funded by Government agencies involving Te Hau Ora O Te Tai Tokerau until the situation is resolved.
"What is of considerable concern is that hundreds of Northland's most needy families are now without support or care", said Mr Heatley.
