ACT Continues to Support GM Moratorium Lifting
Tuesday 30 Jul 2002
ACT Environment Spokesman Gerry Eckhoff today repeated the ACT party's offer to Prime Minister Helen Clark to support the Labour Government over the lifting of the moratorium on Genetic Modification.
"I'm concerned that the moratorium will become a dominating issue in the talks the Government is conducting with the Greens and United Future.
"This needn't be an issue at all. With the support of ACT, the Government will be able to muster the numbers in Parliament to lift the moratorium.
"We have always said we will support the lifting of the moratorium and nothing has changed - as long as what the Government proposes is in accordance with the recommendations of the Royal Commission," Gerry Eckhoff said.
