Vote: Rain, Hail, Shine, Or Hangover
Green MP Nandor Tanczos today urged all New Zealanders to make sure they voted on Saturday, saying a hard night before or cold weather was no excuse to stay indoors or in bed.
"We know election day will be a Saturday and it is the middle of winter but it would be a tragedy if cold weather or a big Friday night out kept people from the polls.
"It's not too late for people to enrol. People can enrol to vote all Friday. But it is crucial that all New Zealanders who are on the roll make sure they vote," said Nandor.
"My message to voters is to get hard and get out there. Round up your friends and make an occasion of it.
"A new Government will be chosen on Saturday and if those people who had a big Friday night and need to sleep in don't make it to the polls, you can bet that those who went to bed early and called noise control will.
"It's a risk we can't afford to take," said Nandor.
