RNZAF P3 Orion locates Nuclear Fuel Ship
A Royal New Zealand Air Force P3 Orion successfully located at 9:30 AM the vessels carrying nuclear fuel, Defence Minister Mark Burton confirmed today.
As expected, the ships were found well outside New Zealand's 200-mile exclusive economic zone. They were found over 200 miles outside of the EEZ and over 200 miles South East of Lord Howe Island.
Attached are photographs of the vessel, Pacific Pintail, and its escort Pacific Teal.
The Joint Force Operational Headquarters at Trentham will continue to closely monitor the progress of the vessels.
