South Auckland Killer Gets Away With One Murder
Friday 19 Jul 2002
The killer of Marcus Doig and John Vaughan has got away with one murder scot-free, ACT Leader Richard Prebble said today.
"The Labour Party's new Sentencing Act means that all sentences by law are now concurrent, so instead of serving two 17-year sentences the killer is serving only one.
"Under Labour's policy you can do two crimes and get the second for free.
"Under ACT's policy the Courts will be entitled to give cumulative sentences - a requirement of a real justice system," Richard Prebble said.
