Domestic closure of Freedom Air concerning
The demise of Freedom Air's domestic air travel services was disappointing because it will reduce competition and choice in the air travel market, National Finance Spokesperson David Carter said today.
"Freedom Air offered budget travel for domestic travelers and it remains to be seen whether Air New Zealand Express will be able to offer the same level of service for the budget-conscious traveler.
"While Freedom Air is part of Air New Zealand, its demise on domestic routes will mean a loss of competition and choice for the domestic air traveler.
"The only thing that could be worse for the domestic air traveler now would be to see the last vestiges of competition removed from our airlines by re-electing a Government hell-bent on selling Air New Zealand to Qantas," Mr Carter said.
