The Act Party "credit card" being released today will confirm its commitment to the politics of division, Labour Party
strategist Pete Hodgson predicted.
"Statements from Act over a period of time indicate that it favours improving the lot of the well-off at the expense of
the weakest and most vulnerable people in our society," Pete Hodgson said.
"Accordingly we have been able to draw some conclusions about the likely shape of Act's policy agenda."
Mr Hodgson said if Act issued a genuine pledge card consistent with its policies it would have to confirm that:
· Act is committed to cutting national superannuation to fund tax cuts for the rich
· Act is committed to reprivatising ACC and forcing people to try their luck through the courts if seeking compensation
after an accident
· Act would sell TVNZ, Radio New Zealand, NZ Post and the rest of the family silver
· Act is committed to stopping children getting into their local schools
· Act is committed to canceling upgrading projects for the army so it can purchase 16 combat jets to fight an enemy that
doesn't exist
· Act is committed to evicting state house tenants and selling their homes
· Act is committed to reviving Richard Prebble's promise to save rail
"The upshot of today's credit card exercise by Act will be to alarm voters about the consequences of ever letting that
party remotely near the levers of government," Pete Hodgson said.
