Green MP Sue Kedgley and Pesticides campaigner and Green candidate Dr Meriel Watts will tomorrow launch the Green
Party's policy on Safe and Nutritious Food with a children's tea party featuring the best and worst of kid's cuisine.
The launch will be at Mount Cook School in Wellington, (off Tory Street), at 1pm.
"The safety of our food and the need to clean up our food chain will be a core campaign theme for the Greens during the
election campaign," said Ms Kedgley.
The Greens will release their policy to reduce pesticide use, cut the amount of contamination by food borne bacteria,
ban the routine feeding of antibiotics to animals and get rid of agri-chemicals that are linked to foetal brain damage,
damage to the nervous systems of young children and cancer.
The policy will also promote a new levy on some agrichemicals and promote new investment in clean production
technologies.
The party will also release their policy aimed at improving what our children eat and advocating a much more
comprehensive labelling regime for food.
