Constable 'A' decision a real risk for police
The decision to send Constable 'A' to trial for murder could see police putting their lives at risk if they have to think twice about protecting themselves, says National's Police spokesman, Tony Ryall.
"It's an appalling situation that this case ever got this far. People should remember the hysteria whipped up around it at the time by the Prime Minister's foolish accusation of racism against the police.
"No one in the police would ever want to go through what Constable 'A' is going through, which is going to make it harder to get people to join the police force.
"Even worse, though, this decision could see police putting their lives on the line if they have to think twice about protecting themselves," says Mr Ryall.
